Kanye Heads to Court for Copyright Infringement

Kanye and a number of other record labels will be heading to court as subject of new copyright/RICO lawsuit, over the continued use of the 1974 song sample of "Bumpin' Bus Stop".

The song was originally recorded by David Pryor of the "Thunder & Lightening" music group, and is now owned by his son and daughter, Trena Steward and Lorenzo Pryor. The two are filing a lawsuit against West in claims that he illegally used a portion of the song in his 2005 hit single "Gold Digger".

In the original song, David Pryor says "get down" three times in an echo of West's recitation of the chorus, "Get down girl, go 'head, get down."

According to AllHipHop, here is what the lawsuit reads about Kanye, along with other labels, on the 15
year long engagment use of the song:

“illegal copyright infringement scheme and criminal enterprise involving the unauthorized, willful sampling of plaintiffs original copyrighted music on a massive scale.”

The other record labels that have been named are Roc-a-Fella Records, Bad Boy Records, Stones Throw Records, Bomb Hip-Hop Records, Autumn Games, Activision, Caroline Distribution and The Island Def Jam Music Group.

Here is the original track of David Pryor's  "Bumpin' Bus Stop".
